I am an artist and a visual storyteller. I dedicate myself to creating visual stories, inspired by the raw beauty of the world around me. Challenging myself to create stories that excite the imagination, and invite our eyes to see beyond the surfaces.
Where do I come from?
I was born in Oaxaca, Mexico one summer afternoon 1994. My parents had a dream and following that dream, I moved with my family to the green coastal valleys of Washington State. Where we made our home in the heart of Skagit Valley.
How did I start on art?
I have always loved to draw ever since I can remember. It’s a pretty cliche thing to say but its the honest truth. Art has helped me out when I most need it, but I didn’t take it as seriously until my Junior year of High School. Thanks to Running Start I attended my first introduction drawing class at Skagit Valley College. From there on I followed my passion all the way to the city lights of Seattle, to study art at Seattle Pacific University, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration back in 2016.
What’s my main medium?
I’m in love with soft pastels & charcoal, I love to draw, I love the feeling of my hands running through the paper, the messiness of it all. For me drawing is sculpting images on paper. Where you don’t have to be perfect, just do, and let go. Trusting your vision and intuition, that after all the blurry lines, mistakes something beautiful will come out of colored dust.
Do I use other mediums?
I do draw in other mediums from time to time like watercolor, ink, and graphite but mostly for brainstorming ideas, or if I need a change of perspective.
One piece of advice?
Be curious, be brave, be crazy to dream big, and remember to be patient and do your best in all that you do.
